TOP Soccer

What is TOP Soccer?
Declared the "game for all kids" by US Youth Soccer, PGH Dynamo Soccer is a proud supporter of this very special program.

TOPSoccer is a community based soccer program for any child ages 4 - 19 who has any disability. TOPS, for short stands for "The Outreach Program for Soccer." TOPSoccer is a non-profit program that operates under the PA West Soccer Association. This TOPSoccer program will operate as a division of Pittsburgh Dynamo Soccer in cooperation with the Jewish Community Center's "Special Needs" program.

The goal for this program is to provide an opportunity for disabled children to play soccer. The emphasis is on players' skills rather than competition. (A nice fit for Dynamo.) Players will be placed on teams according to their ability not their age. The program will be run by all volunteers and a minimal fee ($10.00) is charged per player to cover insurance and PA West registration costs. If a family cannot afford this, a sponsor will be found for the player so nobody will be turned away.

Dynamo Soccer offers Fall, and Winter programs, and two special events where all the kids from the existing PA West programs will be brought together for a fun-filled day of soccer. Summer Day Camps are being considered. The 2010-11 winter season will take place every Tuesday from Jan 18-Mar 8.

Peggy Neason, the national TOPSoccer Director and head of TOPSoccer in Western Pennsylvania, has helped us start a TOPSoccer program in the eastern part of Pittsburgh. Helping her has been Christy Overmyer who is running a TOPSoccer program in Fox Chapel. Peggy herself runs a program in Monongahela, PA. Also helping out will be Barbara Milch from the JCC.

If you know of any youths who might be interested in participating in this program or if you know anyone who would be interested in volunteering to administer or coach in the program, please call Denise Schiller at 412-422-1531.
